Guardians
of the Gifts
Cows
were gifted with sturdy hooves to
walk the fields with,
and
Chickens were given pointed beaks
to peck the ground and feathered wings
with which to fly,
and
Pigs, those talented creatures, were
given sensitive snouts to root for
riches in the earth,
and
People, with their gift of words,
must speak to protect the animals,
and act as guardians of their gifts,
so that cows may walk,
chickens may fly,
and pigs can root beneath
the sky.
